Oonagh Carney - Managing Director

Oonagh has worked exclusively in VAT for over 20 years.  She established Carney VAT Consulting in 2010, having previously spent ten years as a Director in Big 4 VAT practice.

Since 2015, Oonagh is an elected member of Council (a non-executive Director) of the Irish Taxation Institute (ITI).  She chairs the ITI VAT Committee and is the ITI's permanent representative on the Indirect TALC sub-committee. This allows input into dealings with the Revenue Commissioners at the highest level on current VAT issues.

Oonagh's clients are across a broad spectrum of industries, both in Ireland and overseas, and include real estate funds, State Bodies, domestic and overseas investors, SME's, start-ups and high net worth individuals. Oonagh also works with law firms, tax practices and accountants that refer specialist VAT queries.

Oonagh thoroughly enjoys talking about all things VAT and regularly speaks as a VAT specialist at training seminars and conferences, both for the ITI, ICAI, ACCA and CPA. She has also written a number of articles for the Irish Tax Review.

In her spare time, Oonagh enjoys running and walking on her local beach, or playing tennis (badly), but most of all she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 young kids.
